Daily Care:
Daily maintenance is the best way to keep your carpet looking good and to prolong the
life of your carpet. Special care is required on each type of carpet. Light, solid-colored carpets
will show soil and staining more than other colors of carpet.
To keep the high traffic areas looking good, you will need to lightly vacuum daily,
consisting of 3-4 strokes with vacuum, in a forward-back-forward motion over a general area
It is recommended that in order to maintain the look and feel of your carpet, that you
vacuum at least once a week, consisting of a least 7 strokes with vacuum in a forward-back-forward motion over
a general area.
Vacuuming Tips:
 |
Regular cleaning of vacuum brush |
 |
To avoid fraying of carpet, vacuum height must be adjusted
accordingly |
 |
To give a more
uniform appearance to your carpet, vacuum cleaner should be moved
slowly and in one direction across carpet |
Vacuum Cleaner:
A high quality vacuum cleaner should be purchased. An upright vacuum with strong
suction and a revolving beater bar / brush is recommended.
Vacuum cleaner should not have any thing that can damage your carpet
Example: No rough edges, No teeth, No combs
Preventative Care:
 |
Small rugs should be used in high traffic areas |
 |
Walk off mats should be used at all entrances |
 |
To prevent carpet crushing, heavy furniture should be moved
occasionally and rests
used under all furniture legs |
 |
Protective mats should be used under furniture with rollers |
Spills: Basic Guidelines
Immediately take an effective action to avoid a spot becoming a stain
 |
Powder Spills – Vacuum Only |
 |
Liquid Spills – Never rub spill. Always absorb as much
as possible by blotting the area
with a clean towel or sponge |
 |
Semisolid Spills – With a rounded spoon or dull knife, scrape off excess and work in from
the edges to prevent spreading |
 |
Water-Soluble Spots (most foods, soft drinks, candy) use a carpet shampoo solution.
Never apply carpet shampoo alone directly to carpet. |
 |
Solvent-Soluble Spots (lipstick, oil/grease, butter, tar) use a non-flammable
cleaning fluid.
Never apply cleaning fluid alone directly to carpet |
Cleaning Tips:
Upon stain removal, brush carpet pile gently to blend with other areas, let dry, and
then vacuum.

Always test cleaning solution in an inconspicuous area before applying to spot to be
cleaned.
Cleaning solutions should be applied with a clean, white cloth, using a twisting motion
to lift spot.
Dry area thoroughly with a clean, white cloth. Avoid over-wetting spot to be
cleaned, as this may cause a ring and may even stain down to the carpet backing
If the cleaned area of carpet appears to be lighter than the surrounding areas, contact
a professional carpet cleaner, to have entire carpet cleaned.
